Enough! – Shriram Sivaramakrishnan

How many
how many bones
does this Earth hold
under her skin?

How long
how long have
they remained docile,
immersed in her tempered blood?

How strong
how strong did
they once ruled,
holding her to ransom?

The Earth
remains an archive of bones
presenting a bibliography
of our history to
the retarded readers.

How many
how many more years
will she remain
a passive storyteller?

  1. Bruce Ruston

The Poetry Jar would like to welcome Shriram with his first submission here

  2. She’s already showing her anger! Time to wipe the bacteria off her skin!

  3. Great idea, but I think it could be a little more polished. Plus I’m not a fan of the repetitions (not to say I don’t ever like them). Anyway, I think its a great start to a potentially great poem.

    • Enough! (Not crazy about the title) – Shriram Sivaramakrishnan

      How many bones
      does this Earth
      holdunder her skin?

      How long have
      they remained docile,,
      immersed in her tempered blood?

      How strong did
      they once rule,
      holding her to ransom?

      How many more years
      will she remain
      a passive storyteller?

      My workshop of this poem.
